I’m not sure who God is but I know the beginning of this world was clearly a creative act.

When we create, we don’t just physically change the world, we also perform the oldest, most primal act.

11 years ago, when I first started Creative People + Projects as a photo and interview project, I wrote: “The idea for this portrait project came about when I realized how far away I was from the people I admire. Then I remember that I have a camera, and that with a camera one always has the perfect excuse to get closer, to walk into lives, to achieve a form of intimacy that is usually unattainable. I hope this photo project will eventually be a record of some of these moments spent with these wonderful, super-talented people.”

After a gap of some years, I am reviving the project - expanding and reimagining it - because 1) this project has never left my system, and 2) we have never needed creativity and creative people more.

As Brian Eno also said, "We become our new selves first in simulacrum, through style and fashion and art, our deliberate immersions in virtual worlds. Through them we sense what it would be like to be another kind of person with other kinds of values. We rehearse new feelings and sensitivities. We imagine other ways of thinking about our world and its future."

Creative People + Projects 2.0 is a community project, a publishing platform, a gathering place for doing just that, but not only for the future, but also for now, this very moment we are living in. Thank you for joining me in this never-ending process of trying to make interesting things happen in this world.
